ALONE... Indie Game Showcase @AppStore

November 06, 2014 by Laser Dog

We're so excited to announce ALONE’s feature as Apple’s current Indie Game Showcase, live on iTunes from today. Apple contacted us a couple of weeks ago with the news, asking us to suggest a handful of games we love. Perfect excuse for a bit of a write up! We're going to write a 'Why We Love...' for each game throughout the feature, but for now:

Our top 20 awesome beyond awesome iOS games:

SUPER HEXAGON - Terry Cavanagh
Twitch gaming at its finest. We love Super Hexagon because it's brutal, fast and pure. BEGIN...GAME OVER...BEGIN...

CANABALT - Semi Secret Software, LLC
The first and best endless runner. Timing, pace, atmosphere and intensity are all just perfect in Canabalt - a beautiful game, we love it.

RYMDKAPSEL - Webbfarbror AB
This game is pure gorgeousness! We've both lost hours to it with no idea how to pronounce the name. Be prepared to miss your bus/train stop.

HEROES OF LOOT - Pascal Bestebroer
A wonderfully stylised dungeon crawler with a distinct Gauntlet feel (a very good thing!). We love the atmosphere, pace and feel. Awesome fun.

SLAYIN - FDG Entertainment
Super cute, 16-bit inspired slash-em-up with awesome controls, a great soundtrack, loads of surprise depth... oh, and a Megadrive/Genesis cartridge app icon.

RIDICULOUS FISHING - Vlambeer
Great looking, great sounding, wonderful fish hunting/gunning game. The best use of tilt on iOS and a massive ball of super fun.

SPACE INVADERS INFINITY GENE - Taito Corporation
This is such an amazing tribute to where it all began. Some of the greatest boss moments in mobile gaming and an awesome use of the IP.

DAVID. - Andrew Armstrong
Super awesome play mechanics, stylistically probably the coolest mobile game ever, outstanding sound... we were utterly blown away by this one.

BIT PILOT - Zach Gage
Amazing controls, amazing controls, amazing controls. This is a great little shooter with errr... amazing controls! Great style too, oh, and the music (track A)!

LIMBO - Playdead
This game really highlights why indie is the place to be right now. A really great mobile conversion of a truly beautiful game, Limbo's so good it makes us cry repeatedly!

1001 ATTEMPTS - Everplay
This game is all about the fun *stops writing to have a quick go!* *re-starts 20 mins later* Great touch controls, Super Meat Boy-level responsiveness, perfectly mobile.

MONUMENT VALLEY - UsTwo
Outstandingly beautiful game, ultra refined, amazing use of colour, low poly trees, genius level design - as close to a perfect mobile experience as you could ask.

ONE-DOT ENEMIES - Studio-Kura
There will never be a simpler game that’s this good. AMAZING use of the whack-a-mole mechanic, you must get it to see what we mean! Great fun and spectacular sound design.

THREES! - Sirvo LLC
Elegant, simple, wonderful game for anyone who knows how to add / match. This game is very special, universally appealing, super refined and very friendly.

MINECRAFT POCKET EDITION - Mojang
It's Minecraft, it's in your pocket, IT'S MINECRAFT, IT'S IN YOUR POCKET!!

TERRARIA - 505 Games, Inc.
Open world loveliness, hours of exploration, gorgeous tunes.
Our long haul flight choice!

RETRO RACING - Mr Qwak Ltd.
Awesome top down racer from a developer who worked through the golden age of gaming. Retro Racing is fast, fun and plays beautifully even in split screen 2player.

KIWANUKA - Cma Megacorp
Great looking and refined action puzzler with wonderfully mobile friendly controls, low poly worlds and awesome music - an amazing mix of sitars and industrial grunge!

READY STEADY PLAY - Cowboy Games
Yeeehaaa! From the moment this game boots, you're in cowboy land, seriously awesome looking animation with beautiful sound - a great set of mini action games.

MTN - David O'Reilly
This one (guess) is an unusual choice, as it's not really a game at all (if not? then what?). We love that the world waited and waited for something to happen! It's a great experience.
